Creating a platform for the people of the North
How to Get Involved
The People’s Powerhouse creates spaces for the people of the North to come together, share knowledge, resources and create focus on issues that collectively we can affect change on.
You can get involved in a number of ways, by attending on of our events, adding your project, group, organisation or campaign to our community map, sharing your own events, adding to the resources page and last but not least getting involved in our networks.
Through building networks that are pan-Northern we are able to gather intelligence on issues that are pan-Northern, affect change at a local, regional and pan-Northern level.
Our Racial Justice Network is our first network but we anticipate this will grow and develop. Get in touch if you have an idea for another pan-Northern network.
Our Charter
Our charter was developed in 2017 and is underpinned by five pillars of change:
1. A more inclusive north where our diverse voices and strengths are represented.
2. A good economy that works for more people.
3. Devolution that genuinely includes local people.
4. A focus on the value of all our places.
5. More collaboration, sharing and learning together.

Racial Justice Network
People’s Powerhouse feels that to achieve “A more inclusive north where our diverse voices and strengths are represented” creating a space that focuses on racial justice in the North is vital.
Working in partnership with experts across the North, the vision of the network is: To amplify the voices of Northern Communities, ensuring that decision makers are held to account to make racial equality, economic and social inclusion a reality.
The mission of our network is: To be the powerhouse that focuses on race equality and issues affecting the people of the north to drive the positive change between decision makers and communities.
The work is underpinned by the values of:
- Transparency
- Evidence-Based
- Respect
- Rooted in anti-racism
- Integrity.
As well as working to create an inclusive north, the Racial Justice Network works in partnership with the People’s Powerhouse team to ensure that all our work is rooted in racial justice.
